Construction dust behaves nothing like household dust. It is a fine mineral fraction — cement, gypsum, filler — that stays airborne for hours after the work and settles in an even layer again and again. That is why a flat cleaned in a single pass looks untouched the next morning.
Why an ordinary vacuum does not help
A domestic vacuum traps the coarse fraction in its bag and throws the fine one back into the room through the exhaust. You see the vacuum working and do not see it dispersing what it was meant to collect. What is needed is a vacuum with a fine filter — ours are industrial models, brought along for UAH 699 when required.

How many passes
The floor after renovation is washed in three or four passes with breaks rather than once at the end. The first takes the bulk, the second what settled while the work went on, the third and fourth the residue. There has to be time between passes or there is no point.
The order is always top-down: ceiling and tops of wardrobes, then walls and vertical surfaces, then sills, radiators and skirting boards, and the floor last.
Where dust lingers longest
- tops of wardrobes and curtain rails — nobody looks there;
- radiators, including between the sections;
- ventilation ducts and grilles;
- window reveals and the drainage holes in the frames;
- cable trunking, sockets and switches;
- the gaps between laminate and skirting board.
Those six places are the reason dust "returns" a week after you clean yourself.
What it costs
Dust removal is part of post-renovation cleaning and has no separate rate: UAH 150 per square metre, minimum order 3,000. Windows after renovation are UAH 499 each, because film and mortar have to come off them as well.
What helps before we arrive
Humid air settles the fine fraction faster — if you can, run a humidifier or leave a bowl of water out. Do not sweep with a broom: it lifts everything that has settled. And do not switch on the air conditioner before the cleaning, or the dust will end up in the filter and live there.
Dust in ventilation and equipment
After renovation the fine fraction settles inside the air conditioner, the extractor hood and the computer. We remove dust from external surfaces and grilles; dismantling an air conditioner and cleaning its indoor unit is a service engineer's job, and it should follow our cleaning rather than precede it.
How long it stays gone
After a proper cleaning in three or four passes the dust stops settling in a visible layer after about a week, as the residue leaves the air. If a grey layer is back on the sill two weeks later, the source is outside the flat: a neighbour's renovation or a building site through the window.
Who does this work
Post-renovation visits go to cleaners experienced in exactly this: different equipment, different chemistry and a different pace from residential cleaning. Respirators and gloves are mandatory — the fine mineral fraction is harmful to breathe, and that is not a formality.
