A carpet is the one thing in a flat walked on both in shoes and barefoot, sat on by children and slept on by pets. Dust does not lie on top of it but stands upright in the pile and rises every time someone crosses the room. That is why damp-mopping the floor around a rug achieves nothing until the rug itself is cleaned.
The minimum dry-cleaning order is UAH 2,600, which is roughly twenty square metres. A single rug rarely reaches that sum, so it is usually cleaned together with a sofa or a mattress — one call-out, priced by item.
The rug stays where it lies. Furniture standing on it is moved aside one piece at a time and put back — the pile underneath is always darker, and that is where the difference shows best. The rug is vacuumed, the solution is applied and left for a few minutes, and then the extractor goes over it.
The pile stays damp for four to eight hours. You can walk on it almost immediately, but the furniture is better put back the next day: moisture under the feet dries more slowly and wood or metal can leave a mark.
Wool, silk and hand weaving shrink and bleed under extraction. Such rugs are cleaned by immersion in a workshop, with pickup and chamber drying — a different service, and not one we provide. The cleaner identifies the type on the spot and says honestly when the job should not be taken.
Synthetics, polypropylene, cut and flat weaves and fitted carpet are cleaned at home without risk — which covers most of what lies in Kyiv flats.
The grey film of street dust, food stains, coffee, shoe marks and pet traces come out almost every time. In winter the main problem is white streaks from de-icing salt: they wash out well, but postponing is unwise, because salt gradually destroys the pile and after two winters a carpet no longer fully recovers.
Old dye, hair colour, rust and sun-bleached patches only get lighter — an honest forecast you hear before the work, not after.
Once a year for an ordinary room and once every six months for a flat with a child or a pet. In the hallway, where people walk in from the street, the pile greys faster, so a separate cleaning before and after winter makes sense there.

UAH 780 by area. To reach the UAH 2,600 minimum it is combined with a sofa, armchairs or a mattress.
No, we clean at your home. Wool, silk and hand weaving need immersion washing, and we say so rather than risk the rug.
The next day. Moisture under the feet lasts longer, and wood or metal can stain damp pile.
Yes, salt washes out well. But two winters are enough to destroy the pile, so it is better not to wait until spring.
