Fitted carpet cleaning in flats and offices: price per m²

Fitted carpet differs from a rug in one respect: it can neither be rolled up nor carried out. It is glued down or held by the skirting board, runs under the furniture and across the whole room, so it has to be cleaned where it is and charged by the square metre of the room rather than by the item.

Price by the area of the room

• fitted carpet — UAH 130 per square metre;
• a 12 m² room — UAH 1,560;
• a 20 m² room — UAH 2,600;
• an office floor of 100 m² — UAH 13,000;
• an entrance mat — UAH 130 per square metre.

The count follows the area of the covering, not the area of the flat: if the carpet lies in two bedrooms totalling twenty square metres, you pay for twenty. The minimum dry-cleaning order is UAH 2,600 — about twenty square metres; a smaller room is combined with a sofa or a mattress.

How fitted carpet is cleaned

The work goes section by section. The cleaner moves the furniture off an area, vacuums it thoroughly, applies the solution, waits a few minutes and passes the extractor over it in overlapping strips, then moves on and puts the furniture back.

The pile stays damp for four to eight hours. You can walk on it almost immediately, but heavy furniture is better returned the next day: moisture lasts longer under the feet, and wood or metal can leave a mark.

Dry cleaning method

Where moisture is unacceptable — a server room, parquet under the carpet, premises that must open in the morning — a dry method is used: a powder with solvent is brushed in and vacuumed up half an hour later. It is weaker than extraction on deep soiling, but the covering stays practically dry.

Office floors

In an open space the aisles between rows are always darker than the rest of the floor, and that is where the result shows. Under the tables in meeting rooms the pile is worn through: that is mechanical wear, which cleaning refreshes but does not restore. The work is planned for a Friday evening or the weekend so the covering is dry by Monday.

For companies we work under a contract: an invoice and a service acceptance act after the work, payment by bank transfer with up to 30 days deferral. Fitted carpet cleaning can be added to a regular cleaning contract as a quarterly item.

What comes out

The grey film of street dust, coffee, food stains and shoe marks come out in most cases. Winter brings its own problem — de-icing salt: the white residue washes out well but destroys the pile, so the cleaning should not wait until spring. Ink, toner and glue leave a trace.

How often

Once a year for a living room, twice a year for an office and quarterly for a coworking space or a busy reception. Entrance mats are cleaned every two weeks in winter — they take the bulk of the salt.
