Which walls we wash

Tiles in the bathroom and the kitchen backsplash are always washed — that is part of any standard cleaning from UAH 1,950. Switches, the areas around door handles and hand marks on light walls are cleaned without a surcharge too.

Washing whole walls in the rooms is different work. It is charged by the hour at UAH 499, and it has to be requested in advance so the cleaner sets aside the time and brings the right product.

What we check first

The finish decides almost everything. Washable wallpaper and painted walls tolerate damp cleaning; paper wallpaper does not — it soaks through and stains. Matte paint rubs off where a sponge presses, so those areas are treated gently and spot by spot.

If you do not know the finish, send the manager a close-up photo: the texture and the depth of the dirt are usually visible in the picture.

What actually comes off

Fresh hand marks, kitchen grease splashes, steam streaks in the bathroom, furniture marks and pencil drawings come off in most cases. Marker, hair dye, soot after a fire and a stain already absorbed into matte paint do not — and the cleaner says so before starting.

When it is booked

Most often before handing a flat back to a landlord, before a sale, after building work (there walls are included in the UAH 150 per square metre rate) and in homes with children or pets. Walls are usually booked together with doors, frames, skirting boards and tile joints — the joints are steam-cleaned for UAH 350.

Which walls can be washed

Washable wallpaper, painted walls and tiling are washed in full. Paper wallpaper, decorative plaster and paint-ready coverings are left alone: they absorb water and dry with marks that cannot be evened out afterwards.

The cleaner tests the covering on a hidden patch before starting — usually behind a wardrobe or near the floor. If the result looks doubtful, they say so before touching the wall rather than after.

What actually comes off

Hand marks around switches, splashes in the kitchen, children's pencil and felt-tip drawings on washable surfaces, dust on the upper part of the wall and above radiators. What does not come off: marker soaked into paper wallpaper, grease that has sat for years on unpainted plaster, and darkening from a leak.

We do not wash walls above stepladder height — work at height needs different equipment and certification.
